Vivace at rehearsal

Local Directory

Vivace Choir and Orchestra are honored to have been invited by our friends at Tilehouse Street Baptist Church to help celebrate the 350th Anniversary of John Bunyan in Hitchin.

The Choir will be joined by the Bedford West Gallery Quire a group which perform in the costume of the early 1800 with instruments doubling the vocal lines.  Their repertoire comes from a legacy of manuscripts which were left by a church band and choir in the Three Ridges Chapel which is now called the Bunyan Meeting Free Church in Bedford.

The choir will be complimenting this with music from the period or settings of John Bunyan’s words.  Including works by Hubert Parry, Gustav Holst, and 3 movements from ‘Divine Emblems’ by local contemporary composer John Chambers.  This is a setting to music of children’s writings by Bunyan
